3 AM knows why I prefer being accompanied by solitude. It knows why I would rather take a stroll through my labyrinth of a mind, than reach for a peaceful slumber. It knows how to put out the mental fire within me. It doesn’t limit my imagination, nor does it judge me; it embraces me in its warmth, in its silence. It welcomes me in like no other house can.
I have always envied those who sleep accordingly in the darkest of hours. How can they? Do they not know of the great depth that can be found when one searches for existential meaning at this time of night? Do they not know that it is only in the dark that one can see the light?
